The Mission

We give creative opportunities to residents and provide a platform for local artists to share their work. We believe in the power of creativity to make a positive impact to the lives of individuals and within the community.

Social Impact

As a social enterprise we work with local partner organisations to deliver our classes for free to residents using their services. We want to ensure that all residents have a creative outlet and that the positive effects of the arts reaches everyone.

Consultancy Services

We offer consultancy and event management services for local arts and community projects. We are proud to use our strong network of creatives, suppliers and local partners to support other projects and spread our socially minded-approach.

Background

Hackney Arts was founded in 2016 by local arts producer and social entrepreneur Sophie Thompson. With over ten years of experience in arts and entertainment and a passion for arts, community and social change, Sophie set off on a mission to use the thriving arts scene of Hackney to encourage creative exploration and to build a community where everyone is welcome. Hackney Arts was created following an award from Unltd and is now supported by the Allia Serious Impact Programme.
